Following a heart breaking loss last week against Aaron Rodgers & Green Bay Packers, the Bears took care of business Monday night and got their first win of the season agains Russell Wilson & the Seahawks, winning 24-17. Urlacher might've gotten misty-eyed and thought No. 10 (Mitch Trubisky) was No. 18 (Kyle Orton) out there.
The Seahawks entered Monday with a 19-4-1 record in primetime games since Wilson's rookie season in 2012, but there were a few things missing this time around.
Across Chicagoland, Bears fans could fall asleep and wake up with a not-so-familiar feeling.
For all the optimism the Bears generated when they acquired Mack from Oakland just over two weeks ago, Trubisky's development will still go a long way toward determining how soon they climb after four straight last-place finishes in the NFC North.
Closing out the Seahawks was the talk all week at Halas.
Seattle did mount a sweet 99 yard drive to get within a touchdown, so I have to give them credit for not just packing it in.
"I felt that we should make more plays against him", Clark said.
"We're just going to keep growing", Nagy said. I think we were still able to do that.
"I didn't see him beating us, honestly", Clark said of Trubisky.
"It was definitely too little, too late", Lockett said after the game.
Water will haunt Carolinas after Florence — WHAT'S HAPPENING
Some 2,800 North Carolina National Guardsmen were actively aiding rescue and relief efforts Sunday with another 1,000 on standby. The dead included a one-year-old boy, who was swept away from his mother as they tried to escape their vehicle amid floodwaters.
(I left without talking to Carson because Carroll was beginning his postgame remarks in another room; by the time I got back in the locker room Carson was on the team bus to the airport).
You get the sense that Trubisky is aware of the scrutiny.
After the interception, Amukamara only had to beat Wilson to the end zone, which he did by cutting back inside.
The Seahawks got on the board at the end of the first half, as Sebastian Janikowski knocked in a 56-yard field goal with time expiring to make it 10-3.
Kendricks won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles last year, but was released by the Cleveland Browns - who had signed him on a one-year deal this summer - after being charged by federal prosecutors, facing a possible jail term of 25 years.
Whether the QB the Bears drafted No. 2 overall previous year ends up with as many Super Bowl rings as Tom Brady remains to be seen. "We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark out, and we're wearing sunglasses".
And for Trubisky - a risky runner in the open field - the temptation to hit the eject button and abandon the pocket is even greater.
Results on the defensive side were unexpectedly better.
When coach Pete Carroll made a decision to cut ties with Darrell Bevell and replace him with Schottenheimer, Seattle meant to rebuild its identity as a strong running team while also eliminating slow starts that plagued the team throughout the 2017 season. "The victory's great though and I'm enjoying it".
"There are going to be times when the offense is going to help the defense out". Trubisky faked a handoff to running back Tarik Cohen before flicking a shovel pass to Burton for a 3-yard score. So, when he entered the fourth quarter down just one score all hope was not lost - until it was. I'm glad that [General Manager Ryan Pace] made it happen and he's a great addition to our team.
With a defense playing like this, it becomes a little more hard to stay patient while waiting for that future to arrive.
