Lucas Perez has released a statement in response to claims he refused to warm up during West Ham's 3-1 victory vs. Everton. We have been very unlucky to lose the three last games, as I said before, maybe we didn't deserve to win but we didn't deserve to lose either.
"In my current club the players on the bench warm up in series of 3 to 5 minutes, in continuous rotation".
He said Pellegrini initially called upon him before deciding it was instead quicker to introduce Antonio as the winger was ready to enter. "When Marko was injured, I was on the bench after having warmed up", Perez added.
The images that have been misinterpreted correspond to a talk with the goalkeeper's coach, in which I never refused to warm up and explained what happened.
"I really hope that some people never never gonna doubt again about your commitment or say that you didn't give your best on the pitch because they really don't know the kind of person, professional and hard worker you are".
"We have many things to improve - even if we had achieved a good result I would have told you the same - but when the result wasn't the..."
It looks like this won't be an issue going forward for Perez, Pellegrini and West Ham, which will be a relief to everyone involved.
West Ham haven't exactly had the start to their season that they would have expected.
Yarmolenko scored his second goal of the game with a spectacular shot from the edge of the box on the half hour mark to double West Ham's lead.
