In a blog post, OnePlus specified this over-the-air update will be a staged rollout and that, initially, only a limited number of users will get it.

File size of the OxygenOS 9.0 update on OnePlus 6 is about 1521MB, although it may differ on certain units. OnePlus also stated that the old VPN method would not work for the OnePlus 6 because the update is being rolled out to just a limited set of users and not in some locations.

A spokesperson for OnePlus described the launch as a globally phased rollout, indicating that only users in certain countries will be getting the update today, with more regions expected to follow shortly.
