It's a timely international break for Real Madrid

That proved to be the trend for the rest stanza, as the sides went into the break scoreless, while Alaves failed to provide any real attacking threat.

Real Madrid were left stunned after they lost 1-0 to Deportivo Alaves in LaLiga on Saturday night.

The goal did arrive but it was Alaves who found the back of the net, with Manu Garcia firing home close range in second-half stoppage time.

"Other people take decisions like that but it's never good when there is a change in coach".

Valencia will host Barcelona on Sunday while Atletico Madrid will play Real Betis at home for a chance to climb above their city neighbours.

Nobel Peace laureates demand end to sexual violence in war
Nadia Murad, a Yazidi woman from the northern Iraqi town of Sinjar, was held for three months as a sex slave by the Islamic State. Who else won a Nobel award this year? She is the 17th woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in its 117-year history.

Lopetegui was notoriously sacked as Spain coach on the eve of the World Cup due to the circumstances in which he joined Real but he said losing a second job this year was not on his mind.

Since Abelardo became coach, only Real, Barcelona and Atletico have taken more points than them in La Liga.

The coach also said his side's poor results were partly down to Real's awful fortune with injuries, which deepened after Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema were forced off during a game in which the coach already had to contend without Marcelo, Isco and Dani Carvajal. "All negative factors are piling up on us", added Lopetegui. The worldwide break will come as a welcome relief for the Madrid coach and will give him a chance to regroup and reassess. I think we started the game quite well, which is what we wanted, but the fact we have not scored has punished us.

Los Blancos dominated the possession for most of the first half, but they were finding it tough to break down the Alaves defence.
