Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal on Sunday came second at the presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

According to Bayelsa governor, the former Vice President of Nigeria has the requisite experience and knowledge to tackle the challenges bedevilling the country.

A few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari received the ticket of the All Progressive Congress (APC) seeking re-election in 2019, the First Lady, Aisha Buhari took to social media to express her displeasure over the "impunity" taking place in the ruling party.

"Finally, on a personal note, I wouldn't have been standing where I am standing today if my former boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo have not made me his vice-president".

"I congratulate him (Abubakar), he makes the issue in 2019 more robust".

The 55-year-old former minister, who was also the World Bank's vice president for Africa from 2007 to 2012, said in a statement that Nigeria was becoming "a country where the worth of life is trending down to zero".

"You performed what could best be described as impossibility by defeating an incumbent regime".

As per the rules in some embassies and consulates, he was also required to surrender his mobile phone. Newspaper staff have contacted Saudi and Turkish officials in search of his whereabouts.

"Thank you for choosing me", Abubakar said on Twitter.

"That is a feat we will all be proud of". We are set to begin another journey and we don't want to take anything for granted.

"We are requesting that let the right thing be done and let everyone contest the elections", he added.

"Our President will be returned as President in 2019 and this is the task for all of us".

"All the doubting Thomases that thought we would all walk out after the results have been announced, we are not going anywhere but walking with Atiku to victory".
