It has been claimed in some quarters that Manchester United's comeback win over Newcastle United on Saturday could have saved Mourinho from being sacked. After surrendering two early goals at Old Trafford, United fought back to win the game - goals from Juan Mata and Anthony Martial drawing them level before Alexis Sanchez ended his own goal drought with a stoppage time victor. The victor came in the 90th minute, when substitute Alexis Sanchez headed home and a much-relieved United ended a run of four matches without a win in all competitions. "He chose to spend a year out and he isn't going to go back on that", Migliaccio told Journal du Dimanche. "You can't go fighting a war on your own, you've got to fight it together and I think that would be the biggest thing about Saturday - all of a sudden everyone came together".

With Zinedine Zidane heavily linked with replacing Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, his agent has now revealed how the Frenchman feels about the possibility of managing in England. "It is much less his style". I wanted to prove to him I can do what he said I couldn't'. "He has chosen to have a year out, he will not dive in again before that is over".

FA to investigate touchline comments made by Jose Mourinho during Newcastle win
I beat Liverpool [as Chelsea manager] at Anfield 4-0 and I was amazed to hear the stadium singing Liverpool songs. While the final 25 minutes saw United at their best, everything that came before was them at their worst.

United have tried to instigate new contract talks, but Shaw is reluctant due to his previously strained relationship with Mourinho and the current malaise the club is in under the Portuguese's leadership. United return to the Premier League action on 20 October against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge; three days later they host Juventus in the Champions League.
