Taylor Swift may be single-handedly responsible for a tens of thousands uptick in registered voters.
Model Chrissy Teigen, actress Blake Lively and singer Perry were among those adding "likes" to Swift's Instagram post. In the past I've been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now.
The nonprofit site, which helps people register online, reported 240,000 new registrations since Swift posted a message on Instagram endorsing two Democratic candidates in her home state of Tennessee and urging people to register.
After 24-hours and almost two million Instagram likes later, Vote.org said Tennessee voter registration jumped 65,000 in a day. She went on to reveal, "I can not vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love".
But that's not all.
According to Guthrie, the Vote.org site has also seen a jump in the number of visitors since Sunday's post, at 155,940 unique users - second only to the number on National Voter Registration Day.

A WWE Super Show-Down rematch featuring the Riott Squad against the Bellas and Rousey took place on Monday Night Raw this week.
That put the number of new voters registered through the site for October at 153,978. Vote.org typically sees 14,078 average daily visitors, Guthrie said.
Bredesen is thankful for Swift's support, writing in a tweet over the weekend, "Thank you for the kind words, [Taylor Swift]".
The Speak Now singer said she was a supporter of gay rights and women's rights, and against racism.
Swift implored her followers to "please, please educate yourself" on their local candidates and to vote.
Swift broke her silence on politics Sunday, explaining she will not support Republican representative Marsha Blackburn in Tennessee's Senate race because, "her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me". I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. "So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count".
Trump, who has endorsed Blackburn, said on Monday that Swift "doesn't know anything about" Blackburn, when he was asked at the White House about the pop star's post. "Let's say that I like Taylor's music about 25 percent less now, okay?"
