DC Comics hires James Gunn after Disney fires him

James Gunn to write Suicide Squad 2, possibly direct

"Sign me up too", Rosenbaum replied, who happens to be a good friend to Gunn. It is possible that it could be a continuation of the franchise with a new cast of incarcerated supervillains.

- Black Zero (@superwonderdc) October 9, 2018I will not be excited for a Suicide Squad 2 under James Gun. And now that Gunn appears to be headed to the Distinguished Competition to helm Warner Bros.' Suicide Squad franchise (either making a sequel or a separate, new take on the material), Bautista wants to follow him. Since Gunn's firing, the status of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 remains unclear. According to the outlet, O'Connor is now set to direct Ben Affleck in the film Torrance.

However, yesterday the news broke that Gunn is now in talks with DC to tackle the sequel to Suicide Squad.

Suicide Squad, written and directed by David Ayer, featured an ensemble cast of Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jared Leto, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Jai Courtney, Scott Eastwood, and Cara Delevingne. Gunn produced the project with The H Collective.

Another flu-related death, that of an older Buncombe County resident, was reported this month by that county's medical director. MU Health Care and Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services are mobilizing for the upcoming flu season.

Perhaps the biggest shock with this news is that it means Gavin O'Connor, who was previously hired to write and direct the sequel is no longer involved with the project.

Disney-Marvel is still reportedly using Gunn's script for Guardians of the Galaxy 3, though no director has been chosen (some have suggested online they would balk at taking it over out of respect for Gunn).

- 3NegroNerds (@3BlackGeeks) October 9, 2018I'll just say my interest in Suicide Squad 2 has increased following this news. Maybe, Gunn can improve the series in his sequel.

And speaking of villains who may make up Suicide Squad 2, Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista expressed interest in starring in the film now that Gunn is attached. The publication writes that the directing gig could be decided once his script is complete.
