Liverpool and United in transfer fight for Ramsey

Liverpool and Manchester United are set to ingress January transfer window with a big mission as they monitor Arsenal's Welsh star Aaron Ramsey as their new recruitment.

Ramsey has been at Arsenal for 10 years and it is expected foreign clubs will propose pre-contract agreements for next summer when the winter window opens.

However, Ramsey announced his intentions to stay with the club until the season's end.

Arsenal legend Paul Merson has taken a swipe at his former club despite their recent impressive performance winning their last six Premier League games.

The 27-year-old midfielder says he was under the impression that an extended stay had been agreed during protracted talks, but admits that he now has no offers on the table. "I just have to get on with it and carry on playing the best I can".

The Wales midfielder's deal ends next summer, when he could leave for free. Ramsey joined Arsenal from Cardiff in 2008 for £5m and has won three FA Cups, scoring the winning goals in the 2014 and 2017 finals against Hull and Chelsea respectively.
