Far-Right "Proud Boys" Assault Several in NYC, but Why No Arrests?

NYPD is only now seeking further information about those involved in the attack.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Marc Molinaro on Tuesday said he is "a bit ashamed" that a Manhattan Republican Club invited the head of the ultra-national right wing group The Proud Boys to speak over the weekend. 'About 1-2 blocks away a 30 (proud boys) vs. 3 fight broke out'.

Officers did arrest three people immediately following the Friday night incident, but none of them was a Proud Boy member.

The stunning violence comes just days after leading Democrats -including former Attorney General Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton- fired-off heated rhetoric that urged their supporters to ramp-up confrontations with Republican voters and politicians.

Those officers managed to arrest three protesters, all antifa members. Police said there were no serious injuries in the fights and that they were reviewing footage to determine if other crimes were committed.

The viral video showed Proud Boys members punching and kicking men on the ground and yelling slurs.

The NYPD's 19th Precinct also posted images of "persons of interest" who police hope to identify and interview.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said: "The NYPD is fully investigating last night's attack involving the Proud Boys".

Damage included smashed windows, a spray-painted door and a keypad lock covered in glue, according to state party officials.

Proud Boys, a misogynistic and anti-Muslim fraternity known for acts of political violence, has been characterized as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The club's Facebook event for the speech described him as the "rebel of the right" and "banned from Twitter - this Godfather of the Hipster Movement has taken on and exposed the Deep State Socialists and stood up for Western Values". The NYPD contested that and said 48 officers were on the scene Friday with the primary mission to keep the two sides apart, arguing the police presence was more than adequate.

New York's Gov. Andrew Cuomo (Democrat) declared in a statement Saturday that the city has no tolerance for the Proud Boys.

The note left at the club did not mention McInnes specifically, but accused Republicans of inviting "a hipster-fascist clown to dance for them, content to revel in their treachery against humanity".
