Van Dijk has been an ever-present at the back for Liverpool so far this season, starting all eight of their Premier League matches, and will hope to shake off the injury in time to face Huddersfield on Saturday.

Manager Jurgen Klopp said Van Dijk aggravated the injury during the game but had been battling a "bruise on his ribs" prior to the Champions League game against Paris Saint-Germain on September 18.

Milner was substituted during the goalless draw against Manchester City just before the global break and was expected to miss the rest of the month to a hamstring injury.

Salah returned to Merseyside over the weekend having withdrawn from Egypt's squad for their Africa Cup of Nations clash against Swaziland on Tuesday.

While there is yet to be official word on the extent of injuries to Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk, with Sadio Mane's name now being added to Liverpool's injury list, Jurgen Klopp will be even more frustrated with the worldwide break than usual.

Damage included smashed windows, a spray-painted door and a keypad lock covered in glue, according to state party officials. Officers did arrest three people immediately following the Friday night incident, but none of them was a Proud Boy member.

Netherlands boss Ronaldo Koeman has already indicated the injury is minor, but revealed the centre-back would not play against Belgium on Tuesday night.

This boost will be a relief for Klopp after Sadio Mane became the latest Liverpool player struck down by injury on worldwide duty.

The results of the scan are in and the Daily Mail claims Mane has suffered a fracture to his left thumb and the injury has now been braced and put in a strap - as shown in the picture above.

Mane's injury is set to rule him out of Liverpool's game against Huddersfield.
