Patch v6.10, which went live earlier this morning, added Fortnite's first iteration of in-game tournaments, which can be found under the new Events section. We knew the Quadcrasher was on the way, as Epic started advertising it on Fortnite's in-game news pop-up a few days ago like it usually does with incoming items and weapons. Members of the community for Epic Games' popular battle royale title will also have the ability to write a message to accompany their gift. Each tournament has a series of scheduled dates and times, so you can plan ahead and be prepared. Some people just don't want to pay, can't afford them, or don't have many friends that are generous enough to gift in Fortnite in the first place! During the tournament, the game's matchmaking will try to get you into games with players of a similar point count, meaning the better you do the more experienced opponents you'll be matched against.
For the competitive among us, today's Fortnite patch brought with it more than the Quadcrasher vehicle. Each tournament will have a target score and players who reach the target will earn an in-game pin to mark the achievement. In the future, earning a pin may advance you to the next round of a tournament or qualify you to win prizes. The current state of the highly anticipated feature could also be changed by Epic Games before its release, so players may possibly be seeing a very different version of the Fortnite gifting system that is seen in the leaked footage above.
