Jose Mourinho plays down touchline melee after 'awful' Chelsea draw

Media 'manhunt' is getting me down, admits Jose Mourinho

Chelsea's home game against Manchester United at lunchtime on Saturday is the pick of the bunch as Jose Mourinho attempts to beat his former club for the first time since taking charge at Old Trafford.

He bowed his head in disappointment as Barkley scored in the dying seconds after a goalmouth scramble, but then reacted angrily as Chelsea technical assistant Marco Ianni celebrated in front of him before then pumping his fists in Mourinho's direction again.

Mourinho had to be restrained by stewards before Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri managed to reconcile the Manchester United manager.

More than anything, the game will be about contrasting styles: Chelsea's willingness to attack and to get their full backs into advanced positions and Mourinho's instincts to defend.

"And after that Sarri's assistant came to me and apologised to me". I said 'if you really feel it that way, and you want to apologise, of course I accept your apology.

Manchester United's French striker Anthony Martial celebrates with Manchester United's English striker Marcus Rashford after scoring their second goal during the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge in London on October 20, 2018.

Mourinho, who won three titles with Chelsea, has been touted as the next Premier League managerial sacking after his side's indifferent start to the season.

Martial was excellent in the second half and Mourinho refused to criticise Paul Pogba for losing Rüdiger when the Chelsea defender headed in the opening goal from a corner.

Oil rises as investors fret over Iranian supply gaps
President Donald Trump's looming sanctions on Iran are the biggest in a series of mysteries confronting the oil market right now. While oil's surge has subdued, the ongoing conflict between America and Saudi Arabia supported prices earlier this week.

"But the reactions of the fans is up to them".

Given the circumstances, it was nearly a surprise that Mourinho calmed down quickly enough to shake Sarri's hand at full-time.

Mourinho's future appeared to be hanging by a thread as his side's woeful first half performance left United 2-0 behind at the mid-way point in the game, but a late Alexis Sanchez victor completed a stirring comeback victory. I do not know where the extra time came from.

Chelsea pushed for a leveller and it came as Luiz's header off the post was turned towards goal by Rudiger.

Chelsea topped the table after the draw against United, and are one of just three teams still unbeaten after nine games.

Jose Mourinho commended Luke Shaw for being courageous and responding "in the best possible way" to the coach's public criticism after he secured a new long-term Manchester United contract.

"Players make mistakes. I prefer to focus on the [overall] performance", he added. With this kind of football, United are better than us.

"Tough game, but in the end we got the three points and that's most important", Salah told BT Sport.
