Diablo Immortal brings Diablo universe to mobile

Okay maybe not THAT retro. That's a shot of the pre-alpha version

World of Warcraft: Classic Demo Limits Play to 60 Minutes

Diablo started out as a PC game, but Diablo III (originally released in 2012) has made its way onto the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and now Nintendo Switch.

The day when everyone was hoping for a Diablo 3 patch on PlayStation 4, has turned into a nightmare for Diablo fans. Why? In "Diablo Immortal" the story picks up after the events of the "Diablo II" expansion, "Lord of Destruction", wherein the World Stone has been shattered into fragments by the hand of the angel Tyrael. The Chinese company has previously helped to bring a number of Blizzard's games to China.

Blizzard says that the mobile game will have shared public zones as well as instanced dungeons that allow for a four-player experience. Aside from providing cinematic trailers which detailed the story once more, the gameplay footage which showcases high-definition visuals and other enhancements blew gamers away. Speaking to IGN, Cheng said: "We've been working with NetEase Games from the beginning as a partnership to create everything in Diablo Immortal".

The main draw of this game will be the gameplay and it looks like it's the same Diablo you've known and loved, just on mobile devices. As of now, Blizzard has announced six classes - Barbarian, Crusader, Demon Hunter, Monk, Necromancer and Wizard.

At BlizzCon 2018, Blizzard announced when you can play World of Warcraft Classic. 20 years passed in the Diablo Universe between those two games which were released in 2000 and 2012, respectively. You can now pre-register for the game on Google Play, but fret not if you're on iOS, it's going there, too. Diablo Immortal won't just pay lip service to old Diablo games with lands both new and old, though. With the game planning to be expanded through live-content patches, Blizzard confirmed that they will be adding more classes over time.

The backlash has even manifested in-person at BlizzCon, with one attendee sarcastically asking the Diablo developers if the game's announcement was "an out-of-season April Fool's joke".
