In a first for the company, the Seattle retailer said Monday it's dropping its $25 minimum for free shipping to non-Prime shoppers in the US.

Amazon's announcement comes as its retail competitors, perhaps having read research indicating that consumers put a high premium on receiving invoices that don't include a price for shipping, have made their own bids for end-of-year business by taking that off the table.

Amazon has found another way to entice holiday shoppers this season: free shipping to everyone, including non-Prime members. Pair the shipping offer with some choice Thrifter deals and you'll have yourself a recipe for success this holiday season. That means you'll start to see Black Friday deals on Amazon a whole week before the big day itself, which falls on November 23 this year.
