The Hill fire broke out Thursday afternoon forcing evacuations near Camarillo

The "Hill Fire" was sparked Thursday in the Newbury Park Area, which is roughly one mile away from Wednesday's deadly mass shooting in Thousand Oaks.

Television reports showed several homes on fire in the Oak Park community. In Northern California, a blaze visible by satellite consumed the town of Paradise on Thursday and had burned almost 110 square miles by Friday morning.

"We thought the fire was going to kill us", she told CNN.

A 1,500-acre fire burning near Suisun City in Solano County has not prompted evacuation orders or threatened structures.

The city of Malibu has reduced the scope a mandatory evacuation order for the beachside community as a wildfire approaches.

Many residents who live in the area of the Woolsey Fire are reporting being without power.

Late Thursday, more than 2,200 firefighters were battling the flames and the fire remains uncontained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire). It burned in the same path as the 2013 Springs Fire that torched 24,000 acres before running into the Pacific Ocean.

Raging wildfires across California have forced 157,000 people from their homes, and have led to at least one death in the north of the state, officials say.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Calabasas home as well as Caitlyn Jenner's in Malibu have both been hit by the devastating wildfires overtaking Southern California, it has been reported.

The Woolsey Fire is not far from the Hill Fire, which quickly spread to 10,000 acres on Thursday.

While no homes or businesses have been lost because of the fast-moving fire, a number of RVs and outbuildings have been burned and a firefighter suffered a minor injury, authorities said. Drought-stricken fuels, Santa Ana wind conditions, low relative humidity, high temperatures: "It's a recipe for fire", said Ventura County Fire Department Assistant Chief Chad Cook, the incident commander for the Hill Fire.

That fire has devastated the town of Paradise, where officials say almost every structure has been razed by out-of-control flames and five people were found dead in burned out vehicles early Friday afternoon.

While not as big as the Camp Fire, the Woolsey Fire, which now measures approximately 8,000 acres, is in a much more densely populated area. The north and southbound lanes of the 101 freeway near Santa Rosa Road.

Winds were expected to weaken Friday afternoon into Saturday.
