Thousands of residents just outside Los Angeles have been ordered to evacuate immediately as a massive wildfire advances, fanned by strong winds.

Homeowners fleeing the wind-driven blaze jammed roadways as the fire crept closer to a community that is home to such movie and TV stars as Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson, Ellen DeGeneres and Angelina Jolie.

No estimate was given on the number of structures destroyed but the Fire Department did say there were "many".

An 10,000 acre plus brush fire known as the Hill Fire is burning out of control on the Conejo Grade, north of Newbury Park.

Driven by 50 to 60 miles per hour wind gusts the brush fire is zero percent contained and also jumped Highway 101 near Chesebro Road in Agoura Hills on Friday morning.

At least 30 homes have been destroyed.

The entire city of Malibu was ordered to evacuate Friday morning as well as surrounding areas south of Highway 101, the entire community of Oak Park and sections of Thousand Oaks, according to a Ventura County incident webpage.

Friday morning, fire officials reported that the fire had jumped Highway 101 near the city of Calabasas. She and her husband eventually were able to drive away safely.
