Leicester played out a 0-0 draw against Burnley after the march, but the game faded into the background on an extraordinary day of tributes.

Leicester were held at home by Burnley in an emotional first game at the King Power Stadium since the death of owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

A wreath will be laid on the pitch and a two-minute silence observed before kick-off, with Puel hoping Leicester's spirit shines through on a hard occasion for all concerned.

With Vichai's family in attendance, Leicester's players, who made a 19,000-kilometre round trip to Thailand for the funeral in midweek, wore special commemorative shirts, while nearly every fan sported one of the specially distributed scarves bearing the words "Forever In Our Hearts".

On the pitch, Rachid Ghezzal hit the bar and Matt Lowton cleared off the line from Jamie Vardy as the Foxes, who dominated for long spells and remain 10th, tried without success to find a victor.

"I even met a fan from Porto today, because of the Champions League when they came over here". Wilfred Ndidi's skidded an effort wide while Vardy's drilled strike was cleared off the line by Matt Lowton. Chris Wood should have done better when he volleyed a Robbie Brady cross over the bar from 12 yards.

Not many people are going to bat an eye if a game between, say, the Oakland Raiders and Buffalo Bills is played in Mexico City. But the intense activity in the last few months has prevented the grass from reaching an optimum state.

Another of the trio helped scout and coach additions which would enable the final former manager to galvanise a Premier League winning team.

Leicester mustered 22 shots in the game, the most they have attempted in a Premier League game without scoring since they returned to the top-flight in 2014/15.

The club will provide fans with scarves, pin badges, clappers and a commemorative programme for the match against Burnley while a special video will be screened inside the King Power Stadium ahead of kick-off. It's their first game back since the accident. Lowton epitomised their steel and solid organisation with a determined display that included a clearance off the line from a Vardy strike and various fearless clearances from one of 12 corners Leicester sent into the Burnley box.

Khan's son Tony will continue to oversee first-team player recruitment and contractual agreements in his role as vice-chairman and director of football operations, although Ranieri has been appointed manager while Jokanovic's title at the club was head coach. "The people of Leicester have been wonderful".

"We didn't have a lot of training sessions". With only nine of the 38 games left to play, and only four wins of the previous 29 games, Leicester sat at the bottom of the table, seemingly destined for relegation, ending their short spell in this elite tier.

"It was a long journey but it was very important for us to support Vichai's family and honour our chairman", Puel said on Thursday.
