Rooney holds the England record with 53 goals.

England´s striker Wayne Rooney attends a press conference during a media day at St George´s Park in Burton-on-Trent, central England on November 13, 2018, ahead of their global friendly football match against the U.S. on November 15.

Winks, who celebrated his seventh birthday just days before Rooney made his England debut in February 2003, is at the start of his own worldwide career.

But Rooney put to bed speculation and insisted he will finish his career in the USA.

"I think I made the decision to go to the States and when I make a decision I tend to stick with it".

He added: "It is something I am looking forward to. Obviously I've seen talk of a loan move back here and that's something I'm not prepared to do".

Rooney proved a real hit on his debut season in the MLS.

Rooney scored a record 53 goals in his first 119 global appearances as the spearhead of the so-called "Golden Generation", which included the likes of Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham and was criticised for failing to challenge at World Cups and European Championships.

Saudi admits journalist Khashoggi dismembered in consulate
Saudi Arabia's public prosecutor says he will seek the death penalty for five individuals accused of murdering Jamal Khashoggi . The prosecutor told reporters in Riyadh that investigations were still ongoing to locate the remains of the slain journalist.

A year after announcing his retirement from the worldwide game (as England's all-time leading goalscorer with 53 goals), Rooney has been granted an opportunity to say thanks to the England fans by current boss Gareth Southgate and the FA.

Rooney will pull on the national team shirt one last time against the US on Thursday evening as the Football Association look to give the former Everton and Manchester United striker a fitting send-off. "I am not asking people to agree with it". "If Harry Kane handed over the captain's armband then great but the important thing is not wearing the armband, wearing number 10 or playing 90 minutes, it is to pull the shirt on again and that will be a special moment".

He has not played for England since a 3-0 victory over Scotland at Wembley on November 11, 2016.

In contrast to his prime when a "golden generation" disappointed at major tournaments and never made it beyond the quarter-finals, Southgate's charges surpassed expectations by making it to the semi-finals of a World Cup for the first time in 28 years in Russian Federation.

But he remained firm that his initial decision to retire came at the right time.

Despite his impressive run in front of goal, Rooney has ruled out a temporary return to the Premier League during the Major League Soccer off-season.

"I think some of the boys have probably played with him for England before but for me it is a bit surreal", he said.
