There was more to Snell's candidacy than just his win total.

Snell got 17 first-place votes and 169 points to 13 first-place votes and 154 points for Verlander. Also receiving votes were Chris Sale of the Red Sox, Gerrit Cole of the Astros, Trevor Bauer of the Indians, Blake Treinen of the Athletics, Edwin Díaz of the Mariners, and Luis Severino of the Yankees. R.A. Dickey was the only other Met to win a Cy Young.

The 30-year-old right-hander is under contractual control with NY through the 2020 season.

DeGrom started 32 games and finished his incredible campaign with a 1.70 ERA, 260 strikeouts and a 10-9 record.
