Australia rugby league star charged with sexual assault

Jarryd Hayne interviewed by police, reportedly over rape allegation

Jarryd Hayne arrested over alleged sexual assault

NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been arrested after a sexual assault allegation was made against him in Australia.

He was later charged with aggravated sexual assault and inflicting actual bodily harm and was forced to pay a $20,000 surety after being granted bail.

Hayne is accused of sexually assaulting a woman in the Hunter region on grand final night, September 30, this year.

The pair allegedly had sex and the woman told detectives she suffered injuries during the encounter.

When pressed on Hayne at the 2019 NRL Magic Round launch in Brisbane, Greenberg said: "I am not going to talk about the issues for Jarryd, they are serious issues, so I am not going to comment on that". He was granted strict conditional bail and must appear in court on December 10.

White House again threatens Jim Acosta’s pass
Trump told Fox News' Chris Wallace in an interview Sunday, if Acosta "misbehaves, we'll throw him out or we'll stop the news conference".

It is understood the taxi driver is now a witness in the case against Hayne, and has been spoken to by police.

New South Wales Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man had been arrested.

But his dream ended after one season with the San Francisco 49ers.

New South Wales state police did not name Hayne in a statement, but he was widely identified in Australian media and on the National Rugby League website.

The claim likely comes as no help to Hayne's pursuit of a new NRL contract, after his most recent deal with Parramatta expired on October 31.

Hayne, 30, attended the Ryde Police Station on Monday afternoon.
