Heisman 3: Tua Tagovailoa, Kyler Murray, Dwayne Haskins

Heisman Straw Poll: With final surge, Kyler Murray tops Tua...

Kyler Murray Named Heisman Finalist

Joining Murray on the list of finalists who will be in NY for this weekend's Heisman Trophy festivities are Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Haskins will likely finish third in the Heisman voting behind either Murray or Tagovailoa. This will mark the eighth time in nine years a quarterback has won the prestigious award, which is voted on by past winners and members of the media, with Alabama's Derrick Henry the lone exception in 2015. At least three and as many as five finalists are invited to presentation ceremony.

Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray is the victor of The Athletic's Heisman Straw Poll, ending Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's season-long reign atop the poll by a point margin of 96-71.

Grier has thrown for 351.3 yards per game and 37 touchdowns with a 175.5 passer rating this season.

Murray has completed 70.9 percent of his passes and tallied 51 total touchdowns for the Sooners in 2018.

Deposed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe told reporters today that the UNF has no issue with agreeing to an election. Sirisena later dissolved Parliament , nearly 20 months before its term was to end, and ordered a snap election.

Murray replaced last year's Heisman victor, Baker Mayfield, for the Sooners and has been just as good.

In a poll by ESPN's 10 college football experts, Murray edged Tagovailoa, a result that would make him the second Oklahoma quarterback to win the Heisman in as many years, following Baker Mayfield.

Haskins had a terrific season as well, setting a Big Ten record with 47 touchdown passes and completing 70.2 percent of his passes for 4,580 yards for the Big Ten champion Buckeyes, who will face Washington in the Rose Bowl on January 1. But, he struggled in the Crimson Tide's SEC championship matchup with Georgia, throwing for 164 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions before going down with an ankle injury.

Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew II and West Virginia quarterback Will Grier had been in the Heisman mix for much of the season and put up numbers to rival Tagovailoa, Murray and Haskins, but both fell short of leading their teams to conference championship games.
