A Georgetown University law professor said Thursday the FBI's handling of the Michael Flynn case is perplexing to the point he believes it was a "canned hunt" and Flynn was simply captured and shot.

Special counsel Robert Mueller is looking into whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Russian Federation and whether the president obstructed the investigation.

"On the day he entered his guilty plea, he said he was 'working to set things right.' He has done so", the memo says.

Flynn, whose sentencing is scheduled for December 18, pleaded guilty past year to lying to federal investigators about his contacts with Russia's USA ambassador during the presidential transition period from election day in 2016 until President Donald Trump's inauguration. Flynn's lawyers claimed in Tuesday's filing that Federal Bureau of Investigation brass had threatened to escalate the matter to involve the Justice Department if Flynn sought the advice of the White House Counsel before talking with agents.

"The stuff you're talking about is peanut stuff", Trump said in an interview with Reuters on Tuesday.

Donald Trump Urges Democrats to Avoid Potential Partial Government Shutdown
This comes as Democrat leaders are only willing to pay a fraction of the five billion dollars needed for border wall funding. Lopez Obrador said Thursday morning that the topic of funding for a border wall was not discussed "in any conversation".

On early Friday morning, Trump released a series of tweets attacking Mueller and former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey over the ongoing Russian Federation probe. One of the documents is a memo authored by former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe summarizing his involvement in Flynn's January 24, 2017, FBI interview.

Prosecutors have also agreed that the retired Army lieutenant general should spend no time behind bars. But until last week, when the government filed its sentencing memo for Flynn, details of his cooperation largely remained secret. And it described Flynn as a dedicated and fearless officer, noting that while deployed in Grenada, he once dove off a 40-foot cliff and saved two servicemen who had been swept out to sea.

Earlier on Friday, special counsel Robert Mueller's office said in a court filing that Manafort lied on five major issues after agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors, including his contact with administration officials and interactions with Konstantin Kilimnik, his Russian associate allegedly having ties to the Russian intelligence.

The filing came as lawyers for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort said they were still deciding whether to dispute allegations that he lied to investigators and breached a plea agreement.

In a surprise move last week, Mueller recommended Flynn serve no prison time, citing his "substantial assistance" in the ongoing probe. Butina told a federal judge she and her Russian patron, Alexander Torshin, used their contacts in the National Rifle Association to pursue back channels to American conservatives during the 2016 presidential campaign.
