Second Dinner, a startup game studio built by ex-Hearthstone developers including game director Ben Brode, announced today that its first project is a collaboration with the home of Captain America, Spider-Man, and like 50 other Spider-Men. Some sort of Marvel-based card game is a reasonable bet, as everyone on the founding team-Brode, Chu, Mike Schweitzer, Yong Woo, and Jomaro Kindred-were all senior Hearthstone developers prior to teaming up for Second Dinner. [Drumroll] It's a Marvel game, and it's backed by a cool $30 million investment from Chinese technology company NetEase, who just happen to also be Blizzard's main partner in that region. They both left Blizzard Entertainment eight months ago and have been working on a new game.
Given NetEase's involvement, we can expect this game to include strong ties to microtransactions.
Crystal Dynamics are also now working on a new Marvel game based on the Avengers, which was announced back in 2017.
KitGuru Says: Right now, I'm picturing a Marvel version of Hearthstone, but I could be wrong. Or maybe Spectacular! Or Incredible! (Which means development started at roughly the time Second Dinner was officially revealed.) Today's announcement video doubles as a recruitment pitch, and early job listings mention that the studio wants to make "deep, satisfying games that are optimized for mobile". Or Mighty! Or quite possibly all of the above!'
Suspected Ebola patient isolated at Swedish hospital
Doctors in the Uppsala hospital are now awaiting test results to see if their worst suspicions are confirmed. Ebola is spread via contact with the bodily fluids of those infected.
The new project is based on Unity, and Second Dinner is now hiring for two key roles.
We'll see when it gets announced... at some point? You can check out their announcement video below, then share any theories you have about the game in the comment section!
More than anything, the team at Second Dinner seems to be loose and looks like they're having fun.
