Report Aaron Ramsey in January swap deal

Arsenal's head coach Unai Emery had named Aaron Ramsey as one of the five captains this season and initially, the club was expected to renew Wales midfielders contract.

However, Juventus want to land their man in the January transfer window itself, and feel that using Sami Khedira as a makeweight in negotiations may persuade the London club to part with the midfielder in the coming weeks.

Juve have not been slow in recent days to confirm their admiration of the 28-year-old - who they may yet try to sign this month, once a contract is finalised.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Ramsey is free to speak to clubs outside of England about a free transfer and Juve have been strongly linked with a move.

The Wales global is free to leave the Emirates at the end of his contract this summer.

The 30-year-old midfielder was left out of Arsenal's 5-1 defeat to Liverpool and he was equally not in the team who defeated Fulham 4-1 on new year's day. He made 33 appearances for the club in the 2017/18 season, with fell out of favour with Massimiliano Allegri this year.

Asked about reported talks between Ramsey and Juventus, Emery was quoted by Metro UK as saying: "I don't know".

"At the moment he is working with us and I think yes [he will stay until the end of the season]", the Spaniard told reporters. Today [Tuesday] he played 15 minutes and he scored.

The Gunners are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements with the team having looked shaky at the back all season. "For now, he is an Arsenal player".
