Even an optimistic and aggressive timeline for Murray reaching arbitration would put him at least a half-decade away from realizing his first significant post-draft payday in baseball, and it's far from a guarantee that he'd ever be the type of player to command significant arbitration salaries or a significant multi-year contract in free agency.
Murray, a two-sport star, was chosen by the A's with the ninth pick of the Major League Baseball draft in 2018 and signed a $4.66 million contract in June that allowed him to play football for the Sooners for one final year before joining the team.
Fast forward less than three months, and Kingsbury is now the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who happen to own the first pick in the draft. In the week leading up to the game, Kingsbury was asked to talk about Murray and just raved about the eventual Heisman Trophy victor.
"I've followed him since he was a sophomore in high school and just think the world of him and what he can do on a football field", Kingsbury said.
If Murray passes on the A's, they would not receive a compensation pick for him, but they would retain his MLB rights if he should opt to play baseball at some future date. I've never seen one better in high school, and he's starting to show it now at the college level. Not one, which at quarterback is impossible to do. "But he's done it".
Prosecutors in Georgia, Illinois Seeking Info on R. Kelly: Lawyer
A Cook County State's Attorney representative said officials are "in the process of reviewing and following up on these calls". Kelly won a Grammy in 1997 for "I Believe I Can Fly", and is known for such raunchy hits as "Bump N' Grind" and "Ignition".
College football fans can dream of an Air Raid union made in heaven of Kingsbury and Murray playing at University of Phoenix Stadium, but there are plenty of obstacles in the way of that reality. At that point, Murray would have to make a decision on what sport he wants to play.
Murray was selected No. 9 overall by Oakland in last year's draft but returned to Oklahoma for his Junior season, where he won the Heisman after tossing 42 touchdowns compared to just seven interceptions.
What are the Cardinals likely going to do with the No. 1 pick?
For instance, Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa is widely regarded as the top prospect in the draft, and he would fill perhaps the biggest need for both the 49ers and Raiders.
