Marvel and Netflix have released the full trailer for The Punisher Season 2, which sees Frank Castle hitting the road as he tries to move on from his past. The Punisher Season 2 is basically the heavy-metal version of that character conflict. Only this time, it is not personal - exactly. Season 1, which released in 2017, left Frank in the wind, having maimed but not murdered his rival Billy Russo, and been cut loose by the powers that be. "I had to get involved". The show, which stars Ben Barns (Russo) and Jon Bernthal (Castle), will return to Netflix on january 18. Nevertheless, he wants revenge against Castle.

The Punisher Season 2 is very much more of the same, as far as Frank Castle's bloody hijinks go. Bendix questions Castle in a voiceover, "What if Billy kills you?" to which the confident hero replies, "I'm not the one who dies, kid. I'm the one who does the killing", he boasts. It looks like a big improvement upon season one.

However, the manner of the victory left viewers completely gobsmacked. I didn't play a lot of tennis past year ― which was my own fault.

The Jon Bernthal starrer was also surprisingly good (if a little overstretched, plot wise) and not merely a gore lover's delight as was previously thought. We still haven't actually got an official word on this - or on a third season for Jessica Jones - but don't be surprised to see those cancellation headlines popping up a week or two after the second season drops, irrespective of how well it's received, just like Netflix did with Daredevil.

It's increasingly certain that all of this is due to the impending launch of Disney's own streaming service, Disney+, which will premiere this year. These also happen to be the two shows with upcoming seasons still outstanding, with Punisher Season 2 dropping on January 18.
