The Accidental Prime Minister’ Supreme Court refuses urgent hearing to plea against film’s release

The objection was raised against the makers and actors of The Accidental Prime Minister over the distortion of facts that showcase the incorrect facts about Dr Manmohan Singh om the movie that hit the theatres today i.e. January 11.

The Accidental Prime Minister will be clashing with Vicky Kaushal-Yami Gautam's Uri: The Surgical Strike. The movie, whose trailer was marred with controversies since Day 1, opened to houseful theatres today even though it was tagged as propaganda in the political arena, sprouting tensions for the filmmakers and the cast alike, long before its release. Helmed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte, The Accidental Prime Minister is bankrolled by Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada under the banners of Rudra Productions (UK), Bohra Bros. and Pen India Limited.

The appeal, filed through advocate A Maitri, has claimed that "at present if the film "The Accidental Prime Minister" is allowed to be released then it will cause unaccountable damage to the name and fame of the office of Prime Minster of India". The role of Baru is being played by Akshaye Khanna. It stars Anupam Kher in the titular role of former PM Manmohan Singh. Suzanne Bernert plays Sonia Gandhi and Arjun Mathur plays Rahul Gandhi.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to accord urgent hearing on a plea challenging the January 7 order of the Delhi High Court which had disposed of a petition seeking to ban the trailer of "The Accidental Prime Minister". We are very proud of the product.
