Those will likely include revoking the Obama-era rule which gave work permits for the usually low-skilled spouses of H-1B holders (who are themselves on an H-4 visa), and giving enhanced visa preferences to graduate students.

"H1-B holders in the United States can rest assured that changes are soon coming which will bring both simplicity and certainty to your stay, including a potential path to citizenship", the president tweeted.

Trump has also derided visas granted to family members of U.S. residents or citizens as "chain migration", and backed a Republican proposal in 2017 that would have slashed legal immigration in half.

"These proposed regulatory changes would help ensure more of the best and brightest workers from around the world come to America under the H-1B program", Bars said.

Trump, who has also sought to limit legal immigration, in April 2017 ordered a reform of the USA visa program to benefit educated and highly skilled workers.

"The devil is in the details, said Todd Schulte, president of FWD.us, a nonprofit group which advocates for pro-immigration policies".

Maurizio Sarri Confirms He Wants Two New Players At Chelsea This January
Higuain has not enjoyed his time at AC Milan , where he is now on loan from Juventus , and would welcome a move to west London. Willian was on Thursday linked with Barcelona, but Sarri ruled out the prospect of the Brazilian departing this month.

What it means for tech: Big tech companies apply for H-1B visas on behalf of foreign-born workers to fill their talent shortages. Any job that requires workers to have at least a bachelor's degree falls under the H-1B for specialty occupations. The president's message on January 11 suggests that the White House has reviewed at least one proposal and has decided on a course of action.

Democrats say the wall project, which carries a total price tag of more than $20 billion, is expensive, ineffective and immoral. In 2018, the United States hit the limit on the number of H-1Bs it could issue, 65,000, by the first week of April, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

The partial government shutdown over the impasse between the White House and congressional Democrats regarding the wall funding entered its 21st day Friday - tying the longest ever. It would also streamline the application process with a new electronic registration system.

Trump campaigned for president on a promise to crack down on immigrants, who he said took jobs away from United States citizens. It is a non-immigrant visa that allows U.S. companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.

The Trump administration, she said, has stepped up its measures to detect employment-based visa fraud and abuse, but certain non-immigrant visa programmes need reform in order to protect American workers better.
