Even though "A Star Is Born" has received tons of nominations at the 2019 Oscars, Bradley Cooper struggled to cope with the fact that he was snubbed in the Best Director category.

However, Cooper told Winfrey that while having coffee in NY, a friend texted him congratulations about the nominations (the movie bagged seven in total), but did not tell him "the bad news" that he was not part of the Oscars Best Director nominees.

The actor has since broken his silence on the snub, saying that he was "embarrassed" and felt like he "hadn't done" his job. However, he added that in the end, it was about making something you believed in and working hard on it.

A Star Is Born, which is the fourth remake of the original 1937 film, served as Cooper's directorial debut.

This was the actor's first time directing and it's now his fourth getting nominated for an Oscar.

Afterward, veteran Mavericks star Dirk Nowitzki spoke about how impressed he was with Barnes for staying on the bench. Harrison Barnes says he's just thankful for his Dallas stint and looks forward to moving back to California.

Cooper recalled that while taping one scene in the movie where his character, Jackson, sings, Gaga advised him "Don't try to sing it".

Winfrey said she was "surprised" Cooper wasn't nominated for Best Director and asked him about his reaction to the news. Cooper earned a nod in the Best Actor in a Lead Role category and recognition for Best Adapted Screenplay as well. "You know, I've had an interesting road, and I've dealt with similar things in my life".

"Yeah, embarrassment. I went, 'Oh my gosh. And I've observed it in others close to me, and addiction in general".
