A frontal boundary to our south will move northward overnight and will bring precipitation chances right around 7 a.m. Precipitation will likely begin as a wintry mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

We are now entering the relative "lull" period of this storm system.

Schools and universities closed across Washington state and the Legislature cancelled all hearings Monday as the Northwest dealt with snow and ice and prepared for more as a series of winter storms socked the region.

The National Weather Service said a storm warning remained in effect, with an additional 1 to 3 inches (2.5 to 7.6 cm) possible on Saturday and another storm in the forecast early next week.

The daytime high should reach 32 degrees before temperatures drop 4 degrees at night, the weather service said. Downed tree limbs and power outages are possible along I-94 where ice accumulated earlier in the day.

Eventually, it'll switch over completely to just rain but that won't be until later Tuesday afternoon.

There is a winter storm watch for metro Detroit starting midnight Monday night through Wednesday morning.
