Microsoft confirms that Windows 10 KB4482887 update can degrade graphics & mouse performance in certain games

Windows 10 is now on 800 million devices – should hit a billion in 2020

If you compare Windows 7, it took almost 4 extra years for Microsoft to reach the target of 800 million devices.

"Thank you, all our partners and customers for helping us achieve 800 million Windows 10 devices and the highest customer satisfaction in Windows' history", tweeted Microsoft's Windows and Devices Group Corporate VP, Yusuf Mehdi. The OS, as Microsoft announced today, is running on more than 800 million devices.

The milestone put Windows 10 at the 80% mark toward a goal the company once pledged but subsequently discarded. "We're pleased with our progress to date, but due to the focusing of our phone hardware business, it will take longer than FY18 for us to reach our goal of 1 billion monthly active devices". We could see Windows 10 receive a big boost from gamers this year though, as the Halo Master Chief Collection and Gears of War 5 are both set to launch this year.

The additional time will also allow us to continue to optimise The Sinking City making it a little bit better. The reason is, quite simply, that the developers and publisher want to release the game with less competition.

The Redmond giant has rolled out the Windows 10 v1903 with few enhancements and appealing new features.

Last week, on March 1, Microsoft released a new update KB4482887 for Windows 10, which brought some improvements. The company is planning to end support for Windows 7 by 2020. Microsoft's end of support date for Windows 7 is now less than a year away, set for January 14, 2020. The organization reported in September 2018 that more than 700 million gadgets were running Windows 10, showing it had won 100 million new users in under a half year. WIndows 10 is now on 40 percent pf PCs according to Net Applications but Windows 7 is still in second place with 38.5 percent. Windows 10 Update KB4482887, has been confirmed by Microsoft to severely hamper performance in certain games. It was also a quicker transition than the ones from 500 million to 600 million (203 days) and from 400 million to 500 million (226 days).

Microsoft is investigating an issue preventing VMware from being able to install or update Windows Insider Preview builds. The industry analysts revealed that Windows 10 is the largest operating systems globally after the recent development.
