Arizona Cardinals agree to sign FA pass rusher Terrell Suggs

49ers made a late push for LB Terrell Suggs, who will join Cardinals

"I would love to be a Raven for life", Suggs said after Baltimore's playoff loss to the Chargers on January 6.

A contract between Suggs and the Cardinals can not become official until the NFL league year opens Wednesday at 4 p.m.

The 36-year-old player will be joining the Arizona Cardinals on a one-year $7 million contract according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

He was a guy that many fans assumed way going to be a 'Raven for life'. We'll have to see what happens.

In a move that was "shocking" to the Ravens, as Suggs reportedly told the team on Monday that he did not intend to re-sign with them.

Suggs was drafted out of Arizona State in 2003 by Baltimore.

Others were not excited to see Suggs leave but were happy the Ravens got nearly all of his playing years.

Now he is 13th in the NFL's all-time sacks list at 132.5.

Suggs reached the playoffs nine times with Baltimore, winning Super Bowl XLVII against the 49ers in February 2013. "That's a mentor", Ravens linebacker Matthew Judon said of Suggs after the 2018 season. "You can't say enough good words about him and what he's done". Suggs has recorded 846 combined tackles, 132.5 sacks, a safety, 60 passes defensed, seven interceptions, two touchdowns, and 35 forced fumbles through his 16 National Football League seasons. Arizona has missed the playoffs in three straight seasons. Baltimore cut Pro Bowl safety Eric Weddle last week and agreed to trade Super Bowl 47 MVP Joe Flacco to the Broncos.
