Facebook platforms suffer outages in Americas and Europe

Facebook Messenger is the social network's chatting client that is harnessed by users across the globe.

"We're aware that some people are now having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps", a company spokesperson said in a statement emailed to Fast Company.

Facebook said its engineers were working to restore the platform and its other apps that the apparent outage affected.

In another tweet, the company added that it can confirm that the issue is NOT related to a DDoS attack.

Both Facebook and Instagram are having issues as a blizzard takes aim at Colorado.

When some users try to post they are met with an error message. After using our own devices, our personal messages wouldn't refresh or send and deliver, our likes wouldn't update and our own feeds weren't visible to ourselves or others.

The outages are mainly in the US, UK, India, Philippines and parts of Latin America.

According to Facebook developers, this is due to a partial outage. The outage spans across Facebook Messenger as well.

Facebook posted to Twitter reassuring users that the site would be back online.

Many report being unable to post, share, or like.

So of course, people are taking to Twitter for memes and mocking.
